Kindles in the Wild – Torkel’s Chosen – Michelle Howard – May 14, 2021




We finally made it into the water for the first time, this season, today! Whoo hoo!!! And it was our first time kayaking at this location. Last summer we had walked around a bit and then hiked from the fishing center, but I did not have the right shoes for pushing a kayak into the water, no matter Mollee’s disdain at not kayaking.


Anyhoo, this really is a fantastic location for kayaking. You can bring your own kayak or rent one for the entire day at a reasonable price. The water is flat with just a little bit of a current in some spots. And then there are hidden gems like this one just before you reach the bridge. The perfect shady spot to pull up your paddle and eat lunch or just pull out the Kindle and get in some reading time. And what better book to enjoy such a peaceful place then this one.


This book is the start of a journey that you will not be able to stop until you get all of the way to book 10. Well, you really don’t have a choice after that since the rest is up to the author’s muse, but what a grand adventure to get caught up in.


This little hidden gem is close to our house and perfect for a day spent soaking up the sun on the water. Next time I am going to make it to the bridge and anywhere else that I find along the way. There is nothing better then whiling away the hours with a good book, the sun on your face, and the water gently rocking the kayak. But the book can be enjoyed no matter what your locale, so don’t let a lack of water source keeping you from starting on your own grand adventure.

This book was so much better than I was expecting! The story is fantastic! I love how two lives converged on the eve of possible misfortune, and from there the tale became even more endearing. I laughed, I loved and I cried throughout the entire length of the book, and even now I can’t let the story go. I love the characters! All of them! The focused couple, the unit members who learn to love with them, the friend who gave freely of herself, and the family who were such staunch supporters, all blended together so perfectly that they each enhanced the story. I am almost afraid to move on to book two, I just know that I am going to love it and then I will be thrown down the series rabbit hole and not want to escape until the very end. But each moment and each new HEA is going to be worth it.
