Hello again! If you are like me, you have been anxiously waiting to see where our next adventure would be. Well, I still don’t know. But, in 2023 I found myself on a group excursion with my oldest daughter’s youth group to the Prigel Family Creamery. As you know, we don’t usually take big group trips, so I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable this visit was. I say group trip, but we really met everyone at the farm where we were given the opportunity to make our own ice cream with the flavors of our choice, enjoy flights of ice cream, say hello to the critters in the field, and even shop in the little country store. This is a family run business, and we were fortunate enough to have one of the members educate us on the ins and outs of ice cream making, where all of the ingredients come from, and the care of the cows. Overall, this was a fantastic experience where we learned a lot and enjoyed the time spent with great friends.


I never go anywhere without a book, even the line at the grocery store, and the one that joined me on this journey, Kiss of Fire, was a new to me author Deborah Cooke. It may have been the first of her books to grace my iPad mini, but it certainly won’t be the last. I was drawn in by the book cover, yes! I do judge books by their covers, and I stayed for the story that I just couldn’t put down. The main characters were an absolute delight as they worked through their differences to reach their HEA, and there were so many secondary characters that I hope to see find their own HEAs soon. So many moments of action and danger to keep me glued to the edge of my seat with emotional connections that were just too good to ignore. This book was a fantastic read that I am sure will make its way back to my Kindle app sooner rather than later.


So where do you live? Is it rural or more urban? Have you been out on the farm or lived your entire life on the concrete surfaces of the city? If you have never been out on the farm, I highly recommend the experience. There are so many opportunities out there today where you can get a taste of the country life without having to travel too far from the urban jungle that you may know and love. Not all that glitters is gold

What a phenomenal series starter! This is my first time reading anything by this author and I was absolutely captivated by the characters. Sara is sweet and practical, kind of what you expect from an accountant who is world weary and ready for a change. I think the best thing about her is that she is open minded about pretty much everything. Then there’s her leading man who has a mile wide chip on his shoulder, but who can blame him with the life he’s lived. And I can’t forget the side characters who I hope get their own HEAs soon. They added humor, levity, and angst to this already amazing story. The action and danger are top notch, and the emotional connections made sure that I was vested in the outcome. This book was perfect for the weekend and I can’t wait to read book two.
