I have to admit that I am having a lot of fun revisiting our past excursions while I work on catching up on my blog. The girls and I have gone to some pretty amazing places over the years, and I have brought some just as amazing books along for the ride. Just check out this trip from August of 2023. We took a reader’s vacation out to Sleepy Hollow for the weekend and saw so many fantastic things. Now when you think Sleepy Hollow your mind automatically goes to the cemetery, but you can’t visit without paying a visit to the man himself at his home Sunnyside.
When you first enter the grounds, you find a peaceful space filled with the sweet smell of wildflowers taking over and the gentle hum of bees lazily floating in the warm summer air. The gift shop is where you check in for your tour and they have all the appropriate memorabilia for the home of the headless horseman author, although we only left with a few shirts and a magnet to add to the collection. Then you walk the path that Washington Irving must have taken on the gentle slopes to his house. Now there are no pictures permitted of the inside of his home, so if you want to see the grandeur and where he wrote his famous works you will need to take the journey yourself, but it was certainly built when the people were of a smaller stature and felt quite comfortable for someone of my five foot height.
From his writing desk, where you feel a connection to his creative spirit, to a fully set dinner table you can just imagine Irving living his life in this quaint little cottage right off the Hudson with railroad track access that made day jaunts to the city quick and easy to partake in. I can only imagine how the serenity of the location must have lent itself to his literary genius.
The book I took on this venture was from a new author to me, Sarah Jaeger. I don’t often read the blurb when I am selecting books to read, what can I say I totally judge a book by its cover and this one was as smokey looking as its name, however this one intrigued me and I couldn’t wait to dive into a good read. I was not disappointed! The story kept me on the edge of my seat with the excitement and new concept, and I fell in love with the characters. Even now as I write about my experience I want nothing more than to pick up the book again for another re-read.
I 100% recommend that you add this travel location to your bucket list if you are a reader. You will find yourself lost in the simplicity of a quieter life and small town feel as you learn about the man behind the magic. And don’t forget to add Smoke to your to be read folder because you are not going to want to miss the excitement of this amazing story.
Until next time my friends. I am off to re-read my story and check the map to see where we might land next.
Happy reading

Smoke (The Ardelean Bloodline Book 1)
Author Sarah Jaeger
Published to Amazon on March 23, 2023

Following my dreams was supposed to be my way out.
Sometimes, what doesn’t save you, kills you after all…
Thalia
Apparently ignoring my parents’ politics wasn’t the right move. Shifters were outed to the public, and months later, I’m still unsure what the big deal is about.
Now my life is in danger and the only one who can protect me is the true king of the wolves.
Cade is nothing like what my mom and the press show shifters to be. He’s thoughtful, reserved… and have you seen his butt in those jeans?
Cade
Having abdicated the throne, I’ve vowed to stay out of shifter politics.
Now, my sole responsibility, for the next nine weeks, is to make sure no idiots can completely derail the deal I’ve cut with the one woman holding all the cards.
The problem is… the threats against Thalia Clark are nothing compared to the danger of my wolf, now that he’s claimed this human as his.
I’ll kill to protect my mate, but is keeping up my end of the deal enough to save her?

Smoke is the first book in the Ardelean Bloodline series. While this story does contain an HEA for Cade and Thalia, there is an ongoing plot connecting each book in the series. Each book will need to be read in order. There are open door, explicit scenes as well as colorful language not intended for young readers. Don’t let the fluffy puppy on the cover deceive you… he bites.

Official published review:
The court of opinion
This book was an emotional roller coaster that I just couldn’t stop riding. The characters were absolutely phenomenal! The author made each one a fully fleshed individual with thoughts, dreams, experiences, and emotions that made it impossible to ignore them and so easy to fall in love with them while becoming invested in the outcome of their own story. Let’s put it this way, there are at least eight different stories I hope the author writes, but there could always be more. Which brings me to the storyline. This book couldn’t have been more well written. There was action, danger, emotional connections, betrayal, family, love, and revenge so sweet in every page of the book. The author kept the intensity high throughout, and I reached a point where I didn’t know if I was staying for the characters or the story. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of the series, and I can only hope there will be many more to come.

Sarah Jaeger is a human being from the Upper Midwest, even though she is certain she was born to be a shifter. A dreamer since birth, the idea for the Ardelean Bloodlines popped into Sarah’s teenage brain and refused to leave. Finally, that idea is taking shape in the form of a fully-fledged paranormal romance series. When she’s not writing, Sarah likes to recharge with solid TV show binges, playing cards and games with her family, and caring for her fur babies.
