Lyndhurst mansion is the home of Dark Shadows and another stop on our readers delight weekend. And this location is very much a delight. When you first pull into the long sprawling driveway you pass outbuildings and gardens just begging for you to stop and explore. We were captivated by the heat of the day and smell of the flowers wafting in through the open car windows. But, alas, that must wait because the tour begins at the welcome center which is a refurbished horse barn.
As we joined out tour group and moved from the welcome center to the main building, the guide regaled us with some of the history of the mansion. This continues as we took the two-floor tour of the main building and a self-guided tour of the grounds and bowling alley. There were so many amazing things to see, but my favorites were the horse stalls converted into dining tables, and the unused greenhouse. There is just something so poignant about the stark white metal frame against the blue sky. No glass, no plants, just a bare metal frame where once beauty had been. I could have spent hours just sitting in the space, reading my book, and imagining what might have once been.
The book that joined my on this adventure was Redeeming Zorus by Laurann Dohner. Like the greenhouse, Zorus was a man of metal and flesh who had been stripped of his grandeur by the hand lift had delt him. Fortunately, a brash and fearless gal comes reluctantly to his rescue and ends up being his lady love. With a well written storyline that stays true to the series world and well-developed characters that draw you into the book, it is a fantastic addition to the overarching series.
Both the location and the book brought the past and the present together making for a wonderful adventure during our weekend. Just looking at the pictures and writing about the experience has made me wistful about going back again. Whether I ever get to see the Lyndhurst mansion again, I know that I will be re-reading Redeeming Zorus the next chance I get.
No matter where your travels take you, I hope you spend a few minutes to enjoy the experience and a good book.
Happy reading

Redeeming Zorus (Cyborg Seduction Book 6)
Author Laurann Dohner
Published to Amazon on August 10, 2016

*** THIS IS A RERELEASE OF A PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED BOOK ***
Charlie’s brother has put her in the no-win situation of having to rescue a cyborg from Earth Government. It’s dangerous, she’ll become an outlaw on Earth, but it’s the only way to save her brother’s life. The imprisoned cyborg is rude, conceited and probably the biggest jerk she’s ever had the misfortune to meet. His only redeeming qualities are his handsome face and sexy, muscular body. Just wow! Still, she can’t wait to be rid of him.
All cyborgs hate humans, but Zorus is consumed by it. Chained, enslaved and facing death on Earth once again, he vows revenge. To his utter astonishment, a human female comes to his rescue. She’s rude, mouthy and bossy. And very brave. She baffles him almost as much as she arouses him. Zorus cannot deny that he’s fascinated by her. They are about to lock wills and ignite a firestorm of desire that defies every rule he lives by.

Unique and special
Who knew Zorus was such a wonderful person. Until I had been turned off by his character because of his aversion to humans and his seeming lack of compassion, but there’s always more to the story. I absolutely adored Charlie. She faced her fears and any consequences to do the right thing, and it brought her to her HEA. The author kept the intensity high with the reactions to their relationship, and of course the daring escape from captivity. She even threw in an unexpected enemy and some unlikely allies. This book is one of my favorites from the series!

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling AuthorI'm a full-time wife, mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent over two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when writing you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.Author’s Website: http://www.lauranndohner.com/
