Kindles in the Wild – Keenan – Jane Henry – July 24, 2021

What an amazing journey we found ourselves on for this little adventure! We loved rail biking when we went a few years ago, so we were all on board when we found a place not too far from home. The path to get there was pretty and relaxing, anything away from the Baltimore traffic is relaxing to be sure.

When we pulled into town, we saw bears everywhere. They are all painted and sitting out in front of different locations, giving the town that quaint homey feel. Why this little town really took me back to my roots and check it out! We found possibly the last public telephone in existence in this world of cellphones and wifi. And we just fell in love with the station house when we walked into get our tickets. And what a fancy ticket it was, I felt like I needed to head to the chocolate factory when we were presented with our golden ticket. Oh! Did I mention that we also found a dragon? And check out the short line train they have sitting at the station just waiting for the fall weather to be put into service. The girls and I can’t wait to head back and take a ride in those majestic coaches.

The ride itself was phenomenal! We went through some pretty countryside and got to see a lot of relics from the past and even some cute little stop offs along the way. Be warned though, if you are afraid of heights this might not be the trip for you. There are several times when you go over the road with little to no side rails and wide-open areas when you can see everything. The journey is a fantastic workout, and you get a bonus treat if you make it all of the way to the end, you get to stand up in one of the train cars and go back the way you came in style. It gives you a chance to chat with your fellow riders, and if you were too afraid to grab those pictures on the way up, now is the time.

I might have been slacking on the job a little bit to catch up on my reading, hey! Isn’t that what I have minions for? No? Okay, well anyway, I fell in love with this mafia bad boy and the way he loved his lady. The author totally threw me for a loop with the back story on this sweet woman who finds her way deep into the Irish mafia lifestyle. There is action, danger, heat and romance just waiting for you between the covers of this book and you are not going to want to miss it.

This is one of those trips that is worth the time and effort of getting to the destination. And I for one, can’t wait until I can head back for another adventure.

Happy Reading

Official published review:

Escape from the tower

I don’t know if the author intended it to or not, but this book has such a Rapunzelesque feel to it. I love how the book started, and each page after that just added to the intensity. Keenan is one of my favorite characters! He has that hard edge that he only loses around his dear sweet Cait, and the author really drew that out throughout the story. I enjoyed the innocence of Caitlin and how she seemed to be the perfect foil for Keenan, and the entire family pulled on my heart strings and I can’t wait to see them each find their own HEAs. But this story isn’t all about love, there is also the roughness and danger of the Irish Mafia, creating a fantastic reading experience that I didn’t want to end.
