In case you haven’t figured it out by now, we are an avid outdoors family with a love of the water and wildlife. Naturally that meant we spent a lot of our Florida trip in the sun or at a zoo. The Brevard Zoo has to be one of my favorites during this trek. It is not very big, but they have a lot of enclosures packed into such a small space. They even have a kayaking tour, but alas, we did not get to partake due to a timing issue.
Usually, you go to the zoo to see the animals in their enclosures, or at least with a handler. Not us! We go to the zoo and park only to see a turtle flop off of the sidewalk in its attempt to cross the road. Being the good Maryland natives that we are, Mollee and I rushed over to give the poor guy a lift before he got run over.
But the turtle wasn’t the only out of place find in our zoo adventure, nope, we also saw a Florida CAT in its natural environment in the Florida section of the zoo. Pun totally intended on this one guys. We got to walk among the kangaroos, and we even got to see a joey that had just come out of its momma’s pouch. At 8 – 10 months old I could see why the mom would evict the little sucker.
During the little bit of downtime, we had at the zoo, I read this fantastic book, which was oh so confusing when I was trying to work on m write up. I had purchased this book back in 2018, I know! How could I have waited so long to read such a wonderful story? and at the time it had one name which was still showing up on my Kindle app. But when I downloaded the book to read it had a completely different name. No matter what the name, this book is one that you will not want to miss. The characters are engaging, the story is interesting, and the best part is that it is a series starter so there are more books where this one comes from.
No matter where your journeys take you, I highly recommend this zoo, why yes it did make it on our “to visit again” list, and this amazing book. Both will make for a fascinating adventure that you won’t want to see come to an end.

Such fantastic world building! I enjoyed the two extremes in culture and how the author slowly brought everyone closer together. I love that the girls were strong enough to make a difference in their own lives and yet smart enough to recognize a good thing. The author made this such a fantastic journey with a touch of SciFi and PNR that I can’t wait to read the next book!
