Kindles in the Wild – A Very Vampy Christmas – Kerrelyn Sparks – December 31, 2021

It’s so hard to believe that we have finally made it to the end of 2021. For all that happened during it, it seemed like it just flew by. But maybe that’s in spite of everything happening it still flew by. A good thing perhaps. Regardless, the girls and I went to the great outdoors to pass the last day of the year.

After a week being cooped up inside, between work and the rain, the girls and I were glad to finally get out and explore the world around us. Due to the light drizzle and the overcast skies, we chose to stick closer to home and finally made it over to this grand old dame that is a stones throw from our house. The history of this location is phenomenal! Most of the buildings have been well maintained, and even the gardens have kept their original glory. We stick to the self-guided tour, but you can actually tour the big house during certain time slots if you are so inclined. We would have, but the tour was all filled up at the time closest to when we were there.

This site actually has 2 locations, the main one with the visitor’s center and a secondary one across the street. There are plenty of parking lots for those who can’t walk too far, but it was only around 3 miles total that we walked, and it included all of the outbuildings, the cemetery, and walking across the street to those buildings and back again. It was a fantastic way to get the blood flowing after being stuck in doors for over a week. I hope to go back when the gardens are in bloom to see them in all of their glory. Who knows, maybe I will see you there.

As always, Summer fell behind with her nose stuck behind a fancy camera and Mollee found the choice locations to pose for those glamour shots. But I made sure to take a minute or two to stick my nose in a book. I actually found the perfect book to read for this location. I can see the vampires from this book walking around and enjoying the night until the death sleep called to them. This is one of my favorite books by the author! I love that both characters had been done wrong in the past and they were willing to explore that heartache and find their HEA. There is humor and drama and everything in between making for a great read at any time of the year.

Happy Reading

A Very Vampy Christmas: From Sugarplums and Scandal (Love at Stake)

Published to Amazon on September 6, 2011

Author Kerrelyn Sparks

Maggie O'Brien is thrilled when she lands a starring role on the Digital Vampire Network's hottest soap opera, As the Vampire Turns. Doesn't hurt that her leading man is Don Orlando de Corazon, the greatest lover in the vampire world! But who is Don Orlando really? Nobody knows, not even Don Orlando. As the couple sets out in search of his mysterious past, "home for the holidays" takes on a new meaning when the recently-turned vamp discovers his own Christmas miracle.

Official published review:

A hard knock life

This book is equal parts hilarious and silly. I love the characters, and how the author just keeps adding in another layer to their love story. The author brought this missing cowboy into the perfect blended family with room in their hearts for one more. This book fits perfectly with the series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Hopefully it’s Ian finding his own HEA.

5 stars

A GR BB

Kerrelyn Sparks apparently has issues with reality. After writing more than a dozen books about vampires, she has now completely gone off the deep end and wound up on another planet. But how thrilling that she can share this magical new world with her readers! Although she is best known (so far) for the Love at Stake series, which has hit as high as number 5 on the New York Times list and 22 on the USA Today list, she hopes her readers will love The Embraced as much as they did her merry band of vamps and shifters.
